The 90° Union Elbow Female‑Female (FF) is a high‑tech plumbing fitting. It combines three functions in one: a 90° change of direction, standard connections, and—most importantly—a union feature that makes the joint demountable.
What is a union elbow for?
This clever fitting allows assembly and disassembly of a pipe section without cutting or turning the pipes. It’s the ideal solution to:
- Install equipment: Easily connect a pump, circulator, water meter, or filter—and remove it for maintenance or replacement.
- Create a junction point: Join two fixed pipe sections where a standard threaded joint would be impossible to make up.
- Simplify interventions: Loosening the central nut separates the connection, making modifications or repairs on an existing line far easier.
Sealing of the “union” section is achieved by a high‑precision metal‑to‑metal conical seat between two mating faces, requiring no additional gasket there.
Technical Features (EN 10242 Compliance)
Manufactured to EN 10242 for optimal quality and reliability in critical installations.
- High‑Quality Material: Malleable cast iron (EN‑GJMW‑400‑5).
- Anti‑Corrosion Protection: Hot‑dip galvanized (approx. 70 µm), ensuring long life and an industrial raw look.
- Conical Seat Sealing: Union features a conical metal‑to‑metal seat for durable, reliable sealing without wear parts.
- Connection Threads: Both female threads are parallel (Rp) to ISO 7‑1 for the pipe connections. The union’s loose nut has a gas thread (G) to ISO 228‑1.
Indicative Dimensions
This fitting is bulkier than a standard elbow.
Thread | A / B – Centre‑to‑End (mm) | Approx. Weight |
---|---|---|
1/2'' (15x21 mm) | ~ 45 / 36 mm | ~ 0.32 kg |
3/4'' (20x27 mm) | ~ 52 / 43 mm | ~ 0.47 kg |
1'' (26x34 mm) | ~ 60 / 51 mm | ~ 0.70 kg |
Note: A and B are the centre‑to‑end dimensions on each side of the fitting.
Installation Tip
Seal the Rp threads with hemp or another suitable product. Do not apply any sealant to the union’s conical seats. Tighten the central nut firmly to ensure metal‑to‑metal contact.
