The long‑radius 90° Male‑Male (MM) bend in hot-dip galvanized malleable cast iron is a specific fitting for joining two female‑threaded parts with a smooth, progressive 90° change of direction.
What is this Male/Male long‑radius bend used for?
This unique fitting combines the benefits of a long‑radius bend with Male/Male ends. It directly connects two female fittings (tees, elbows, couplings, etc.) without a separate nipple, while delivering a very gentle 90° sweep. Main strengths:
- Optimized flow: Like any long‑radius bend, it minimizes turbulence and pressure loss—ideal for sensitive fluid circuits.
- Compact assembly: Replaces a “FF elbow + 2 nipples” set‑up, simplifying some builds and reducing the number of sealing points.
- Distinctive style: In industrial décor, its continuous, slender shape (without the widening of an FF fitting) offers a particularly fluid look.
Technical Features (EN 10242 Compliance)
Manufactured to EN 10242 for high quality and reliability.
- High‑Quality Material: Malleable cast iron (EN‑GJMW‑400‑5).
- Anti‑Corrosion Protection: Hot‑dip galvanized (approx. 70 µm), ensuring long life and an industrial raw look.
- Taper Sealing Threads (BSPT): Both male threads are taper (R) to ISO 7‑1. This profile seals on the threads when tightened into a female fitting. Sealant is essential.
Installation Tip
Apply sealant (hemp, PTFE tape, etc.) to both male threads before tightening each end into the corresponding female fittings.
