Black plastic insert to close a female fitting

This black plastic insert fits into the threaded opening of a female fitting (coupling, tee, elbow, cross…) to close it neatly. Its flat head rests on the edge of the fitting and hides the thread: a clean finish with no exposed metal edge.

It goes in within seconds, with a mallet, with no glue and no screwing: the flexible fins bend as it goes in and grip the thread of the fitting.

Available sizes

Choose the insert by the size of the fitting to be closed (not by the pipe).

Uses

• Table and furniture legs: at the end of a fitting resting on the floor, the insert prevents direct contact between the metal and your parquet or tiles.
• Unused outlets: close the free branch of a tee or a cross in a shelf, a clothes rack or a coat hook.
• Decorative finish: black matches black malleable iron as well as galvanized iron or painted deco fittings.
• Protection: the thread stays protected from dust.

Fitting with a mallet

1. Hold the insert straight in the opening of the fitting, fins first.
2. Tap the head with a rubber or plastic mallet, in small blows, until it rests on the edge of the fitting.
3. On a leg, stand the fitting on a hard, protected surface while tapping.

Avoid a metal hammer, which would mark the head.

Decorative use only

The insert closes and protects the fitting but does not provide any seal: do not use it on a water, heating or gas installation. To seal a pipe, screw in a threaded male plug.
