This lamp holder for lampshades takes E27 screw-fit bulbs and carries two rings intended for the shade. It is rated 250 V / 4 A and comes in thermoplastic or bakelite depending on the finish. We add a conical cord grip to every order; the bulb and cable are not supplied.

Which finish should you choose?

Start with the material. Both versions take the same E27 fitting and carry the same electrical ratings; what changes is the material, the look and two millimetres in overall size.

Thermoplastic — thermoplastic cover, white or black, 40 × 54 × 56 mm, 62 g. The straightforward choice when the holder stays in the background.

Bakelite — a durable thermosetting resin that takes on a glossy finish once painted and whose look recalls telephones, radios and other objects from the 1950s and 1960s; 40 × 54 × 58 mm, 70 g. It is well suited to building a classic wall, table or ceiling lamp, and it is the only material offered in gold.

Then the colour. Black goes unnoticed at the end of a dark cable and draws a clean outline beneath a pale shade. White disappears against a light shade and under a white ceiling. Gold is available in bakelite only. The cord grip we include matches the finish: white with the white finishes, black with the black finishes, clear with the gold finish.
