What is this Male/Female extension used for?

This type of fitting—also called an extension—adds length to a pipework run or offsets a component. It can make up a small misalignment, bring a tap out through an overly thick wall, or simply bridge two points that are too far apart for a direct connection.

Its dual male/female connection lets it drop into an existing line without needing an additional coupling.

This fitting is manufactured to European standard EN 10242, a guarantee of reliability and quality for professionals and demanding DIYers. The standard ensures precise characteristics:

• Sealing Thread (BSPT): In accordance with ISO 7‑1, the fitting combines a male taper thread (R) with a female parallel thread (Rp). This configuration seals on the threads when tightened and requires a suitable sealant (hemp and paste, PTFE tape, anaerobic resin).

Installation Tip

For this taper/parallel thread type (BSPT), sealing is critical. Apply your sealant to the male thread in the tightening direction to ensure a perfect, leak‑free connection.
