Stainless steel hose tail, male 316, BSP threaded (R taper to ISO 7-1) at one end, with a barbed spigot at the other, from 1/4" to 2" (DN8 to DN50). This stainless steel hose connector joins a push-on flexible hose to an Rp tapped component. The part is rated PN 20 up to 40 °C and drinking water compliant, for all fluids compatible with stainless steel.
Description of the stainless steel BSP hose tail
The spigot of this stainless steel hose tail pushes into the flexible hose. The flats (dimension E) take the spanner. The taper R male thread fits into a parallel Rp tapped thread.
The part is investment cast (lost wax) in CF8M (AISI 316) stainless steel, and designed, manufactured and inspected to ISO 4144.
The option gives the thread size and the bore of the intended hose: 1/2" (15/21) × Ø 13-15 mm for a hose with a bore of 13 to 15 mm.

| Sizes | 8 sizes, from 1/4" to 2" |
| Compliance | 4MS; drinking water: French order of 25 June 2020 |
Pressure and temperature
PN 20 applies from −20 to 40 °C. Above that, the permissible pressure falls. Values marked ≈ are read from the pressure/temperature curve in the technical data sheet.
| Temperature (°C) | Max. pressure (bar) |
|---|---|
| −20 → 40 | 20 |
| 100 | ≈ 16.5 |
| 150 | ≈ 15 |
| 220 | ≈ 13.5 |
Certification and compliance
According to the technical data sheet for the series:
- 4MS: compliant with the 4MS requirements, the harmonized European rules for materials and products in contact with drinking water.
- Drinking water: compliant with the French order (arrêté) of 25 June 2020 on metallic materials and products in contact with water intended for human consumption.
Uses and installation advice
This hose tail connects a flexible hose to a drinking water system or to a circuit carrying a fluid compatible with 316 stainless steel. The PN, temperature range and compliance are those of the part: also check the limits of the hose and the hose clip, and their compatibility with the fluid.
- Hose and hose clip: choose a hose whose bore matches the option, and secure it on the spigot with a suitable hose clip.
- Thread sealing: an R/Rp joint seals on the threads, using PTFE or jointing compound suited to the fluid and the working temperature.
- Galling: with stainless steel on stainless steel, the thread can gall. Screw in gradually, without forcing.
- Tightening: tighten with an open-ended or adjustable spanner on the flats, not with pipe grips or pliers, which mark stainless steel.
- Dissimilar metals: on a water system, stainless steel forms a galvanic couple with galvanized steel or cast iron.

Dimensions (mm)
Dimensions in millimetres, PN in bar, weight in kilograms. On the spigot side, ØB is the largest outside diameter, ØA the diameter at the tip and ØC the bore. ØD is the bore on the thread side. L1 runs from the tip to the first barb, L2 from the tip to the flats, L3 is the thread length and L4 the overall length. E is the dimension across flats.

Stainless steel hose tail: frequently asked questions
Which hose tail for which hose?
Start from the bore of the hose: the option shows it next to the thread size, for example Ø 25 mm on the 1".
What pressure for the complete assembly?
The part is rated PN 20 from −20 to 40 °C and ≈ 16.5 bar at 100 °C. The working pressure of the assembly also depends on the hose and the hose clip: go by the lowest limit of the three.
BSP or NPT thread?
BSP to ISO 7-1: R taper thread, for use with an Rp parallel female thread. This hose tail is not compatible with NPT.
316 or 304 stainless steel?
This hose tail is 316 (CF8M). Unlike 304, 316 contains molybdenum and has better resistance to chlorides.
