A freestanding two-level rack, in galvanised steel

Two rails one above the other, twice the storage: this freestanding clothes rack made of plumbing pipes doubles the capacity of a classic rack without taking up more floor space. Shirts and jackets on top, trousers on hangers below — or two rows of shirts in a shop. No fixing at all: it stands wherever you need it, in the bedroom, the hallway or the store. Galvanised version: the same structure in raw zinc — lighter than varnished black, for bright interiors, shops and Scandinavian-style wardrobes.

Authentic Industrial Character

Handmade in Annecy, in the French Alps, from genuine plumbing parts, every piece is unique. Malleable cast iron fittings and threaded steel pipes: a screwed assembly, with no welding, solid and built to last. The union-nut fittings built into the design let you close the frame without forcing anything — and take it apart just as easily. The top corners are closed by two union-nut elbows: the frame screws together freely and the two nuts lock the top rail — assembly stays simple, with no strain on the threads.

What you receive

A ready-to-assemble kit, delivered partly assembled: every part is cleaned in our workshop, the zinc stays raw, unvarnished. Assembly is done by hand, without tools.

Two heights, nine widths

The width quoted is the overall footprint — the space the rack actually takes up. The usable hanging span, between the fitting faces, is about 11 cm less. Allow 1 cm per slim hanger and 2 to 3 cm per thick coat to estimate capacity.

The height is yours to choose too. At 216 cm the rails sit at 107 and 213 cm: two genuine hanging zones of one metre, for long garments as much as for shirts. At 176 cm the rails come down to 87 and 173 cm — the top rail stays within easy reach, and the rack fits under a low ceiling, a mezzanine or a sloping roof.

How many hangers?

An estimate based on the usable width — allow 1 cm per slim hanger and 2.5 cm per thick coat:

Cross-shaped feet, flat on the floor

Each upright stands on a cross-shaped foot: two legs either side, ending in elbows resting on the floor, and the fourth outlet of the cross touching the floor right under the upright. The load therefore runs straight down from the upright to the floor instead of passing through the legs, and each upright bears on three points instead of two. The stance measures 61 cm deep.

Details and Specific Features

Raw zinc needs no varnish and no special care: a soft, dry cloth is enough, no abrasive products. For indoor use only.

Dimensions are theoretical: the tightening of each fitting and casting tolerances give a variation of about ± 5 mm on every measurement. Accessories and clothes shown in the photos are not included.

The materials may show slight differences in appearance compared to the photographs. These imperfections, which make each piece unique, are part of the raw, authentic and resolutely industrial character of every item sold by Home Invasion.
