Shelves and hanging space on the same wall
Shelves and a clothes rail on the same frame: this wall structure made of plumbing pipes organises a whole stretch of wall — folded jumpers, boxes and baskets on the boards, clothes on hangers underneath. The uprights stand on the floor and screw to the wall at two points; the shelves rest on flanges fixed from below, out of sight once the board is in place.
Authentic Industrial Character
Handmade in Annecy, in the French Alps, from genuine plumbing parts, every piece is unique. Malleable cast iron fittings and threaded steel pipes: a screwed assembly, with no welding, solid and built to last. The union-nut fittings built into the design let you close the frame without forcing anything — and take it apart just as easily. Each bracket is a tee on the upright, a short pipe and an elbow turned upwards, ending in a flange fixed under the shelf: the board becomes part of the structure, as on workshop racking.
What you receive
A ready-to-assemble kit, delivered partly assembled: every part is cleaned and varnished in our workshop. Assembly is done by hand, without tools. Only the wall fixing calls for a drill, with screws and plugs that you must choose for the type of wall you have — they are not included.
Two, three or four shelves
The number of shelves sets the trade-off between folded storage and hanging length. In all three cases a low shelf keeps things off the floor, and the clothes rail sits just below the first high shelf:
| 2 shelves | shelves at 33 and 200 cm from the floor, clothes rail at 180 cm, i.e. 147 cm of clear hanging height — enough to hang long dresses and coats. Overall height 217 cm. |
|---|---|
| 3 shelves | shelves at 33, 170 and 199 cm from the floor, clothes rail at 150 cm, i.e. 117 cm of clear hanging height — room for a coat or a dress. Overall height 216 cm. |
| 4 shelves | shelves at 33, 61, 179 and 200 cm from the floor, clothes rail at 158 cm, i.e. 97 cm of clear hanging height — the height of a long shirt or a jacket, plus two low levels for baskets. Overall height 217 cm. |
How many hangers?
An estimate based on the usable width — allow 1 cm per slim hanger and 2.5 cm per thick coat:
| Width | slim hangers | thick coats |
|---|---|---|
| 40 cm | 40 | 16 |
| 50 cm | 50 | 20 |
| 60 cm | 60 | 24 |
| 70 cm | 70 | 28 |
| 80 cm | 80 | 32 |
| 90 cm | 90 | 36 |
| 100 cm | 100 | 40 |
| 120 cm | 120 | 48 |
| 150 cm | 150 | 60 |
The boards: over to you
The boards are not included — that is the idea. Allow one board per level, of the nominal width chosen and about 30 cm deep, 18 to 27 mm thick: cut at the DIY store, reclaimed, oiled or painted, it gives the whole unit its character. Each shelf rests on two flanges and is fixed from below, through the three holes in each flange.
The flanges sit exactly in the plane of the uprights, themselves 29 cm from the wall: the setting depth is yours to decide. Sitting astride the uprights, a 30 cm board leaves some fifteen centimetres of space behind it and overhangs by as much at the front. Pushed back towards the wall until the flange (9 cm across) reaches its front edge, it leaves only 4 cm behind, for an overall depth of about 34 cm.
Which board for which width?
One board per level — 2, 3 or 4 depending on the option chosen. The board fits between the two uprights; depth and thickness are free within these limits:
| Width | board: width | depth | thickness |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 cm | 40 cm (40.9 cm max between uprights) | 20 to 40 cm — 30 cm recommended | 18 to 27 mm |
| 50 cm | 50 cm (50.9 cm max between uprights) | 20 to 40 cm — 30 cm recommended | 18 to 27 mm |
| 60 cm | 60 cm (60.9 cm max between uprights) | 20 to 40 cm — 30 cm recommended | 18 to 27 mm |
| 70 cm | 70 cm (70.9 cm max between uprights) | 20 to 40 cm — 30 cm recommended | 18 to 27 mm |
| 80 cm | 80 cm (80.9 cm max between uprights) | 20 to 40 cm — 30 cm recommended | 18 to 27 mm |
| 90 cm | 90 cm (90.9 cm max between uprights) | 20 to 40 cm — 30 cm recommended | 18 to 27 mm |
| 100 cm | 100 cm (100.9 cm max between uprights) | 20 to 40 cm — 30 cm recommended | 18 to 27 mm |

Every configuration also exists as loose parts, delivered raw — for you to clean and finish (paint, varnish, patina…), hence the price difference with the kit: add them to your cart in one click, or open the assembly in our 3D configurator to change it before ordering.
The same spirit, other formats
In the same range: open 2-bay wardrobe, floor-to-wall double-rail rack, freestanding double-level rack. Plus the made-to-measure shelf upright kits, to line a whole wall with racking.
Details and Specific Features
The metal is protected by a clear varnish that keeps its raw look; wipe with a soft dry cloth, no water or abrasive products. For indoor use only.
Dimensions are theoretical: the tightening of each fitting and casting tolerances give a variation of about ± 5 mm on every measurement. Accessories and clothes shown in the photos are not included.
The materials may show slight differences in appearance compared to the photographs. These imperfections, which make each piece unique, are part of the raw, authentic and resolutely industrial character of every item sold by Home Invasion.
